The BCSO Drone Unit is made up of highly skilled individual Deputies who have obtained their Remote Pilot Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). We are equipped with top-of-the-line Unmanned Aircraft Systems, also known as Drones, with advanced technology including daytime cameras with optical and digital zoom capabilities as well as thermal cameras. The Drone Unit is used in support of numerous Law Enforcement objectives which include the use in tactical operations to provide situational awareness to the tactical commanders and team members, vehicular accident reconstruction, search and rescue operations, apprehension of fleeing criminals, crime scene photography/documentation, and critical incident response to provide real time video of a scene.
